Calvadnack - Barn Conversion Low Energy Home
OVERVIEW
Calvadnack Farm is a sensitive restoration and extension of a traditional Cornish rural barn. The existing stone farm buildings are carefully preserved, while the new addition is designed to complement and enhance their character.
Located within a World Heritage Site, the project demands a considered and respectful approach. The extension draws inspiration from local vernacular farm architecture, ensuring it sits comfortably within its rural setting. It adopts a simple, barn-like form and uses materials such as corrugated metal and timber to harmonise with the existing structures.
Built to Passivhaus standards, the extension prioritises energy efficiency, combining traditional character with contemporary sustainable design.
