Lanjeth Water Gardens Cafe - Sustainable Development

Set across 13.5 acres of woodlands, wetlands and over 130 lakes and ponds, Lanjeth is a peaceful sanctuary just outside St Austell.

Bought in 2022, it took nearly two years of clearing and rediscovery before the owners could welcome visitors to the site. The work continues every week—new paths emerge, hidden ponds are uncovered, and nature returns. We were asked to design a low energy building that would house workshop areas, cafe and a flexible event space. We took inspiration from the surrounding simple forms of the existing green houses and barns to create a building that fits sensitively into its context.
